Leaders of the York and North Yorkshire councils have secured an ambitious devolution deal with Government. The deal includes the choice to directly elect a mayor for York and North Yorkshire who would have £540m mayoral investment fund, along with new powers and funding whilst providing the change to form a direct relationship with central government to champion our region. A new mayoral combined authority would use its funding to improve transport, adult education, increase affordable housing and support climate friendly business growth.
