Let's Talk Local

Let’s Talk North Yorkshire is about making sure we involve as many people as possible from the beginning as we create the new North Yorkshire Council.

We want to listen to what is important to you and the communities you live and work in.

We want to use that information to work with you at a local level.

The new North Yorkshire Council wants to do things differently on a local level and enable local communities to have a bigger say about the things that are important to them. This is an opportunity for you to give us your ideas and thoughts. The map below is included simply as a starter for 10 to open up that conversation. We will use your feedback to review and refine where appropriate.

We are keen to understand from you whether the areas outlined below look right for your community and where they don’t look right, please tell us what you think would be a better fit.

What might a Community Network look like?

We are proposing bringing people together in partnerships relevant to local areas. These could be either be new or a partnership already working which we are calling Community Networks.

These networks will see communities work alongside business and other agencies to have a louder voice and get things done in their local area. Made up of community and business groups, town and parish councils and representatives from other local groups and public services, including local councillors, community networks will act as local agents for change, driven by local priorities in the places they are formed.

What they do and who is part of them will evolve and change over time to help make sure they continue to meet local needs and priorities.
